Doing it with small kids
Claim your grass earlyThe good sightlines fill up well before dusk, and fireworks here rarely start before 10pm — later than a toddler's bedtime, so plan the retreat before you plan the arrival
Park facing outEveryone leaves at once. A spot you can drive straight out of is worth a longer walk in

Bring ear protection for the little ones and a wagon for the walk back to a far-away car. Dates move year to year — the organizations above post theirs in late June.
